Cholesterol production
The brain produces its own cholesterol, which is synthesized by astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. The brain is isolated from other cholesterol pools in the body by the blood-brain barrier.
“The brain is isolated from other cholesterol pools in the body by the blood-brain barrier.”
Damn, I’ll have to stick with my Keto/Carnivore diet then.
Don’t forget that side-chain oxidized oxysterols can cross the blood-brain barrier. Not exactly cholesterol, but still.
That's the theory UNTIL you start getting dementia from the statins and they find . . uh-oh . . that's not 100%. Statins eat away the LDL and the cholesterol is the covering or insulation for the neurons and then things go haywire and short circuited. This is happening to a friend of mine but he won't stop the stains. Eventually he'll have dementia.
You win.
I don’t find that informative nor accurate because I believe medical science to remain horribly ignorant about some aspects of human biology. One example is the gut.
In this case, LDL cholesterol is a fraction of the size of the rabies virus, yet we all know the effect of rabies.
