A true American presidential wipeout.
In all fairness Mondale even voted for Reagan
Red is traditionally a color of communists, socialists and other lefties.
It supposedly signifies the blood of all revolutionaries fighting for the better future for all, who were killed by the reaction.
Remember, the MSM flipped the colors for the parties because it is known that red is the color of commies and Democrats are commies. MSM obfuscation. This picture is proof.
Computers of 1984 vs computers of 2020 — which were better?
The counting process today seems a lot more ... sophisticated. And I guess that means it has to take a lot longer.
Yup. The colors were flipped after Democrats complained they didn’t want to be associated with red anymore because of Reagan.
It was a late hour. I was bunked in a townhouse with others who were ganged up watching the returns, a group of retired O-6 or better. I had sworn not to watch and went to bed on the fourth floor, they were on the second. I heard the outcry at 270. My buddy in Missouri called me when the 270 looked pretty certain. One of the best days of my life, made me confident enough to decide to retire thinking the next 8 years would seal things to the good for my remainder. Four years were great. ‘20 was crushing, just not honest.
Your post #10 NAILS it!!
Now, having second thought about it.
Maybe it should be that way.
Since the Bolshevik Revolution, Communists killed about 100 million people.
Maybe, the Conservatives should adopt the Red as an homage to all those innocent victims of Communism and leftism.
Back then Blue was always the incumbent.
LOL
When Reagan's popularity was peaking, the Democrats thought that it was a political liability to be portrayed with the same color as the Soviet Union/China, so they complained to their buddies at the networks. CBS changed it first, then the others followed. It was supposed to rotate each election, but the media kept the switch to benefit Democrats.
I remember that vividly.
I’m obviously old enough to recall when elections and results both occurred on the same day.
From Wiki and my memory.
“Traditional political mapmakers, at least throughout the 20th century, had used blue to represent the modern-day Republicans, as well as the earlier Federalist Party. This may have been a holdover from the Civil War, during which the predominantly Republican north was considered “blue”.[5]”
Yes, and using paper ballots too!
I really thought they went back and forth.
I remember Carter states as red 1n 1980.
Oh well. Wiki I sent you agrees with you.
May have been one of the last honest elections
Said it was changed permanently in 2000.
But then it is Wiki.
Correct. Due to Bush vs Gore recount.
Correct. Due to Bush vs Gore recount.
Forget my rantings. I contradicted myself twice. Guess I’m still drunk from my Hogs beating Tennessee last night.
And watching Vandy beat Alabama. Vandy is just 25 miles north of me.
