Will the Port Strike affect gas stations getting gas?
Oil is imported/exported by best market pricing…light sweet crude exported and heavy oils imported.
Gasoline prices in Texas have been dropping in the past two months due decreases in exports of refined oils & fuels (Supply & Demand).
Dock workers’ strike might actually decrease gasoline prices even more.
See: eia.gov
How about lumber and Construction material?
huh? Theer are oil tankers docking as I type this
Most everything is coming from the west and the south west and unless the west coast strikes, we should fare well.
GMTA!
Crude oil, yes, bunker oil, yes. Not refined product. We get some oil from Venezuela and some other sources that are very sour and can only be refined at certain refineries, but that is maybe a single-digit percentage of all oil that is refined in the US.
That’s not to say the oil sellers will not crank the price a dime or maybe two, but I doubt there will be any major disruptions.
💩😳
Any trafficking victims trapped in shipping containers are going to be in for a rough time
Lumber travels by train from Canada.
According to data from the American Farm Bureau, over half of all banana imports enter the country through the ports that were affected as of early Tuesday morning. Bananas are the most popular fruit in the US by volume, and over 100% of the country’s supply comes from imports. Wilmington, Delaware is the port through which more than 25% of imports are entered.
I havent read anything about those. I think the way to think about this stuff is that we are talking about “container ships.” The obvious exception is the car carriers.
But in general, if the product moves in a container it is likely affected.
Thanks Dan.
My wife and I are literally couple weeks away from starting to build a home....and when I saw the port strike...I was like “here we go....lumber prices through the roof”
Answer: stop panicking.
I am NOT panicking, it’s a SIMPLE QUESTION, that I did not have the answer to.
What is YOUR problem, come down off your high horse!
Prices are going to skyrocket as hurricane recovery begins. Laws of supply and demand as supplies get shipped to the hard hit parts of the country.
You’re probably right, but the reconstruction phase is probably not gonna be starting till after the winter. They still haven’t cleaned the place up. Then after that the insurance adjusters go through. Then there’s only so many contractors to do the work, etc. etc..
