There was a landmark court case in New Jersey back in the 1980s involving Leonard Tose, who owned the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles at the time. He was sued by one of the big Atlantic City casinos over a seven-figure gambling debt. His defense was that the casino deliberately kept him intoxicated while he ran up the debt. He lost in court, which kind of surprised me when I saw the evidence that had been presented. He might have won if he was a more sympathetic character.

No Deniro fan but he had a great line at the beginning of the movie Casino.......in referring to casino’s in general he said “we are here for one reason, to take your money”.....that is absolutely true and you start winning and they start looking for a reason to kick you out.

I despise these new gambling venues. Just another place where a man...or woman...can lose the family’s rent money,grocery money,heating money,health care money...

Thanks for the tip. One for you is to read two novels by James Swain, “Sin City,” and “Takedown.”
He’s a magician and a consultant to casinos, hired to spot and explain schemes and scams. But he eviscerates casinos for how they attract and pursue gambling addicts, and their general plans that keep people gambling long after they should stop.
