***Two Naval aviators who were killed when their aircraft crashed near Mount Rainier in Washington State last week had just returned from a Middle East deployment where they took part in strikes against the Houthis in Yemen.
Lt Cmdr. Lyndsay P. Evans, 31, and Lt. Serena N. Wileman, 31, were killed after their EA-18G Growler fighter jet crashed on Tuesday. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The two aviators had just returned from the Middle East, where they deployed on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower as part of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 130, operating against the Iran-backed Houthis and defending international shipping lanes that had come under attack.

Those who try to tie the loss of these Naval aviators to the DEI movement are opportunistic vultures of the worst type.
For example, LTCDR Evans completed a 12-week HAVOC course at Fallon NAS (the Navy calls it the “Top Gun” of the Growler community), was also a Growler tactics instructor and was later recognized as the 2024 Growler Tactics Instructor of the Year.

I’m glad you posted this - the first thought in my mind any time I see a woman’s name involved in some sort of accident or mishap - is DEI.
That’s how bad it’s gotten, and it’s causing negative connotations for those that DID earn it, because it’s easy to see anybody of color or female as a DEI hire now. So stained has the pool of talent become due to what amounts to quotas.
Porkchop, I haven’t seen a lot of info on this since the plane was reported missing except that after finding the plane they were still looking for the aviators (which to me indicated they may have ejected) - was there any discussion on weather at the time of the accident?
