You and I - and all of us here watching TV - are seeing two totally divergent views. All the predicted paths that I have seen for two days have shown a narrow cone traveling east north east across the Gulf aimed straight at Tampa . . . with possibly 200 MPH sustained winds. The cone is perhaps 130 miles wide so it could hit land 50 miles south or north of Tampa.
The strength of the winds has been steadily rising by the hour but that cone has hardly moved at all. Even four or five days ago that cone looked much like it does tonight.
If you think the storm is headed for Cuba you need to holler loudly because the state is evacuating thousands of people inland today from the Gulf coast. Interstate 4 was jam full like a parking lot all afternoon with cars. If Milton hits Tampa Bay with 200 MPH winds AND a storm surge of 20+ feet ... well, the destruction and death could be apocalyptic.

Yep! A lot of talk about 2004 and Charlie lately. I am in West Orlando close to Kirkman Rd. The center of the projected 'cone' runs right over both of us. The best I guess that we can hope for is for Milton to hug the southern most trajectory of that cone - or Cletus guessed right and it veered south to Cuba. Of course these storms almost exclusively head north, not south. 🤷

The TV meteorologist says he has never seen a storm explode with such rapid gain of speed. In my area - for now - they are predicting 70 to 90 MPH winds but wind gusts and tornadoes are a whole 'nother crib of corn.
Good song. It’s truly a shame that Huey Lewis has had intermittent but severe hearing loss since around 2015.

I think that she only “gets busy” >ahem< once like this in her life. During her initial flight, she will mate with 10-12 male drones.
No picnic for them either, as they lose their reproductive organs in the process, dying in the process.
She uses what she has stored up over the next 3-5 years and lays eggs.

The panhandle should be relatively okay. This thing is at category 5 and will intensify even further. Before it hits it is projected to fall down to a category 4, maybe even 3 before it hits. The thing is the winds and there’s lots of debris everywhere from Helene. That’s BAD.
I have a lot of friends and a coworker in that area of FL.
