Vanity

Could be a rumor but does anyone have any knowledge of this? Trucks attempting to get aid to hurricane victims are being attacked at truck stops by slashing their tires.

“ Pay us $50 for us to make sure your truck is “safe”.
Exactly as it’s done in Mexico. Years ago traveling from Mexico City down to the coast, stopped at a town that had a medium sized grocery store. I got out to go get some snacks and was accosted by a uniformed guard. He wanted money to “watch” the car. I politely refused and went in to shop. When I came back he was gone. But had let a key induced scratch down the side of the rental car.
Truckers in the US will have to pay lot watchers instead of lot lizards to watch their trucks. Thanks for nothing demoRATS!

Do the tire slashers have any idea what pissed off truckers with tire buddies can do?

It may not be a part of the actual strike, but slashing truck tires will cause delays and angst and work well with the shortages and delays caused by port strikes.

Not totally far fetched.

Halt supplies and an army will surrender to those having halted supplies.

If it happened probably was a random vandal. Now if it happens at multiple truck stops in various towns...then it’s a pattern.

I hope they catch the bastard. The images of him captured on video may be enough for folks to recognize him. He better hope it’s cops that do the recognition and not some very pissed off truckers.

I would NEVER “make anything up”. EVER and is a complete insult to me. My sister in law who lives in Tennessee, who works at a local post office told me. She has heard it from multiple people and it was also on X.

Please read my initial post, I asked if anyone else has heard this and I also mentioned it could be a rumor. So apologize.

50 trucks, and no one stopped them? Hard to believe.

If the sidewall on any tire gets punctured the tire is irreparable. I learned that the hard way long ago when I was a young punk street rodder

Does this ruin the tires or can they be repaired? I guessing not easy to repair if its the outside sidewall area of the tire. I have been told at tire shops that they only patch tire punctures if they are in the tread area, never the sidewalls because it won’t hold. Those truck tires on big rigs are like $1200 dollars apiece!!!

That is what I've heard and experienced, although my sidewall damage was bigger than a puncture..

Yes. It’s a “protection racket”. Pay us $50 for us to make sure your truck is “safe”. The new Venezuelan Mafia.

I'll bet truckers know how to set up an ambush and take care of the problem.

If semi tires are $1200 apiece, plus mounting, etc, that’s prob 25 grand to replace on an 18 wheeler if some jerk with an icepick punctured all of the tires. That would really hurt a small independent operator and most smaller companies as well. Ouch!

I am absolutely POSITIVE that these “tire bandits” realize the economic consequences of their actions. Right? RIGHT?

That sounds a little hyperbolic.

But if it is true, and it’s happening on the East coast…it would not be because of the hurricane. Although Teamsters tend not to cross picket lines.

More information and examples would be needed.

Messing with a truck carrying the mail is a Federal Crime.

Whatever morons are doing this would have fun in the Federal Pen explaining they were there for slashing tires.

Don’t mess with Postal Inspectors. They don’t screw around.
