From burger behemoths to international pizza joints, F&W rounds up the world's largest fast food chains.
McDonald's
The burger behemoth tops the list over Subway by a few hundred stores worldwide. While the Big Mac is ubiquitous in the United States, in Europe the chain also sells the Big Rösti for a limited time each year — beef patty, hash brown patty, Emmentaler cheese, and bacon on an onion-flavored bun.

They all suck!
Your right....
Denny’s Rocks!
I was stationed in Germany from 77-81. It was called a viertel pfunder mit kase.
Would have thought Chik-Fil-A would be on the list.
I’m guessing the #11 chain is big in Ohio.
No, no. That’s not what I remember from the mov... er being there.
Taco Bell wins the food wars... so I’m told by a time traveler.
The last one is a made up BS name. No such chain exists.
All of these are overpriced, overprocessed.
I miss Denny’s. Great breakfast food. Never found anything wrong.
I think it’d be fun if some Japanese families were treated to a full-on (or even typical) U.S. Thanksgiving or Christmas meal and see their reactions to it all.
Plomping a small fries into a small chili is my favorite fast food meal. Wendy’s for me.
I haven’t been to Japan, (I changed flights at Narita Airport once and that’s about it) but I’ve heard that. Bikkuri, you probably have some intel on this?
That sounds like a Wendy’s version of poutine!

I once worked for a company that manufactures automated bakery equipment. Part of my job was to install, calibrate and train bakery personnel.
I took a trip to Paris to install the topping machine in the bakery that produces McDonald’s hamburger buns. There were 2 varieties of 4” hamburger buns that were topped with sesame seeds. One was the 1/4 pounder and the other was Big Mac. Once I had all the settings entered and it was all running smoothly, I trained the operators on the machine.
When they chose the variety they were producing, they used a touch screen to choose either “Royale with Cheese” or “Le Big Mac”.
I’m not sure how long it was left that way, but for a time about 20 years ago, the bakery in Paris had those two options for their buns.

I've been to Europe but never ate at a McDonalds there. I ate at McDonalds in Russia and it was huge. Lines around the block to get in and the food was excellent. McDonalds grew their own produce, veges and beef on land they leased from the Russian govt. They bought nothing from the Russians.
But I learned "Royale with cheese" from John Travolta on Pulp Fiction.
“I miss Mr Fables.”
Me too, they were the best. I loved their hamburgers and onion rings. However, I find that Rainbow Grill in Grandville, and Russ’s both come close. I also enjoy Mr. Burger, but they are a bit short of Mr. Fables.
Nothing like any of them out in California though - unfortunately. The best I have found in Cali is a chain called Fatburger.
