By the way, I live in a town of 2,800 that has 32 wineries. You can get all the wine you want free just by dropping in and tasting at a few.

Is one required to die to get to this place or can it be reached by road?

Are you located near Grand Junction? I remember seeing a number of wineries next to the Colorado River while driving on I-70. Never stopped, though, and I regret it.

My sources are mostly confined to: Weingut Eduard Kroth (Briedel, Germany, Mosel), Lost Oak Winery (Burleson, TX), Fall Creek Vineyards (Driftwood, TX), and Ankida Ridge (near Lynchburg, VA). I have been a customer of Eduard Kroth’s for over 45 years, dating back to when I was stationed in Germany. Such fond memories from the many times I stopped there.

It’s no surprise that our battalion’s Hails & Farewells took place within a ten minute drive from my apartment. There were numerous restaurants along the Mosel that were unknown to those stationed at Bitburg and Spangdahlem,

My landlord didn’t mind our quarterly after parties, we weren’t that loud.
