Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa doesn’t intend to retire, despite calls from former players and a prominent doctor to do so after he suffered his most recent concussion, NFL Network reported on Sunday.
The 26-year-old sustained a concussion – at least his third in four NFL seasons – in Thursday night’s game against the Bills, when he ran on fourth down and collided with Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin. After being attended to by medical personnel, he walked off the field.
According to NFL Network, Tagovailoa has met with doctors specializing in concussions with the eventual goal of being cleared to return to the field. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has said there is no timeline for Tagovailoa to return and that his chief concern lies with his quarterback as a person, not a player.
Tagovailoa missed five games in 2022 because of a pair of concussions. That history has left former players – one of them a current NFL head coach – worried for his future.
“I’ll be honest, I’d tell him to retire. It’s not worth it,” Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce said. “I just think at some point, he’s going to live longer than he’s going to play football. Take care of your family.”

but golly gee, he sure had a lot of fun leading up to that concussion.
—Baseball used to be America’s pastime.
Vegetable brain is horrific. Healing the brain is not like healing an ACL or MCL.
The tackler -
Bills’ Hamlin in critical condition after collapse on field
CINCINNATI (AP) — Buffalo defensive back Damar Hamlin was in critical condition early Tuesday after the Bills say his heart stopped following a tackle during the Monday Night Football game, which was indefinitely postponed.
Baseball may make a comeback. Hispanics and Asians both like baseball.
Yep, how about that, Damar Hamlin is back playing after his almost fatal injury.
Another trait of a concussion or multiple concussions: lack of the ability to make rational decisions, and fits of rage, combativeness and memory loss to boot.
Of course they’re not disclosing the other aspects of change in behavior as a result of his closed head brain injuries or closed brain trauma. Right now just the very obvious stuff on video. And his irrational push to keep on playing until he’s picked up off the field dead.
My husband ended up with a medium-grade concussion that resulted from a vehicular accident in 2017. To this day he still exhibits behaviors consistent with his brain trauma.
Wow, just like every other top QB in NFL history.
So your saying the Biden and Harris are the “Baseball Presidents”
idiocy
Not smart at all.
At one time, boxing was the most popular sport in the US.
One can hope he will leave his brain to science for study of his chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
Technically, it was fatal.
He died and the doctors/trainers brought him back to life.
“Hispanics and Asians both like baseball.”
No, they like the money and the escape from the third world countries they were living in. There has been a huge effort to train, sign, and get into the majors latin players from numerous countries. The players go to special schools and are hand picked by MLB to go there. At the schools, they are educated in reading. writing, and arithmetics in the morning, and baseball in the afternoon. They are tutored by former major league players hired by the big league clubs and represented by scouts at a certain age when they show promise. In their countries, they can sign a contract with MLB at 16. The pay they get is huge compared to their wages in the home country but less than the American signed players. So when they make the big club, and wish to be paid consistently, they are traded or released and another latin will be called up.
And this is not new. In 1987, the Los Angeles Dodgers were the first MLB club to establish a baseball academy in the Dominican Republic when they opened the doors to Campo Las Palmas. Now, every single one of the teams in the MLB has a baseball academy in the Dominican Republic. Such notables to come out of those camps include Pedro Matinez, Sammy Sosa, David Ortiz and Robinson Canoe.
And other countries are involved. The Tigers, the Rays, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Chicago Cubs still run training camps in Venezuela. Other teams are investing in Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia and Brazil. We even have it going on in our own territories. The Puerto Rico Baseball Academy & High School (PRBAHS) is a non-profit organization combining academics and sports programs into one curriculum. Its goal is to prepare its students for higher education, competitive college scholarship opportunities, and the Major League Baseball Draft. The bill is being picked up by he big club. Their baseball program emphasizes the mental, physical, and technical aspects of each position to create a complete understanding of the game. Topics covered include throwing mechanics, weight training, fielding mechanics, communication, running the bases, the mental aspect of the game, run downs, the art of pitching, the art of catching, and bunt plays.
That is why so many latin players are in the majors today is because of training like this. And I didn’t name a majority of them.

Okay. What about Ohtani?
“What about Ohtani?”
First of all we were talking about latins. Ohtani is Japanese born in Misuzawa, Japan. But the same applies. He was making right at $2 million USD playing in Japan. 700 million dollar a year is his base salary with the MLB Dodgers. And according to Ken Rosenthal his $100 million a year in endorsements is on top of that. And that’s just what we know about. And there are probably other things like no interest loans, stock, and incentives for more. So by coming to the US to play he has taken his earnings from $2 million a year to more tha $800 million. And that’s what we know of.
There are baseball leagues all over the world. But none so lucrative as in the US. And he could play here for a number of years and retire in Japan living better than the emperor for the rest of his life. The public has no idea how much money is floating in pro sports. It is huge in the US. But remember when I quoted Ohtani’s salary at $2M in Japan, The Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) league in Japan is the second most high paid league in the world outside of the US.
Here is a list of the top ten leagues based in other countries in order of success and worth:
#1 Major League Baseball (MLB):
#2 Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB)
#3 Korean Baseball Organization (KBO)
#4 Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM)
#5 Mexican Baseball League (LMB)
#6 Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP)
#7 Australian Baseball League (ABL)
#8 Cuban National Series
#9 Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL)
#10 European Association of Professional Baseball (EAPB)
But none of them even start to pay like the US MLB. Many of them also provide jobs so the players can make enough to eat and have a roof over their heads. A lot of these countries are very third world and money doesn’t grow on trees in them. And you’ll notice half of the leagues are latin based leagues. They are better manipulated by our MLB.
