A minute is not a lot of time to first deal with the disappointment of your gymnast, then realize there was a scoring error, and then get over to the judges' table to file the appeal.

I could see holding the team to the one minute ruling if the appeal involved a judgment call made by one of the judges, but if it were a true mistake in calculating the score then the time limit should be waived.

I think it was political. The United States was racking up the medals and the judges wanted to "spread the wealth around" to other nations.

A minute is the rule though. Don’t like it change the rules first. But that doesn’t make it racist that she didn’t win.
