The Hodge Twins weigh in on Tyreek Hill's traffic stop.

He acted like a low class ghetto thug.
By “he” you must mean the power trip cop.
Nothing more.
Okay. He is a jackass. Pure and simple. I like the Hodge Twins. They are right. He escalated everything.
When you get pulled over, no matter what race, color, or creed you are, you should act the same.
As soon as you are stopped, roll down your window.
Then, retrieve your license and registration and have it ready.
Keep your hands at the 10-2 positions on the wheel.
When the LEO addresses you, answer the questions.
This isn’t knuckling under to police oppression. You are acknowledging that they are there to enforce the law, and that your adherence to the law in their eyes is possibly in violation.
We get the same people all the time who are going to reflexively side with the LEOs. And we get the same people all the time who reflexively side with the person regardless.
I don’t know anything about this case other than that he is a famous athlete. And watching that body cam footage, I don’t know what the speed limit was, but the jerk was going a lot faster than the ambient traffic flow when he went by.
And then I watched the ending after writing this, and he is saying he didn’t do anything wrong. Just wow. If that had been you or me, we wouldn’t have walked away from that. We would have been in the back of a cruiser, our car towed.
What a jackass.

There was plenty of egregious behavior on both sides of this event.
I WANT TINTED WINDOWS OUTLAWED IN EVERY STATE.
NO EXCEPTIONS
I’m generally a back the police by reflex guy.
Watch the videos. The only thing Tyreek did wrong was not roll the window back down on the first knock.
I was pulled over in south Florida 2 months ago. The heat is oppressive and the cop didn’t care that I put my window up after he took my license.
There are a ton of red flags here:
1) they leaked that he was going 103 in a 40. No speeding citation. Actual citation says visual estimate of 60.
2) you can’t go 60 anywhere near that stadium pre or post game. It’s a stupid claim. I haven’t seen that video yet
3) you can see stop and go traffic with a temporary merge in the video. 60 mph?
4) they knew who he was based on his plates. He wasn’t a flight risk, gun risk or anything else
5) why were 5 motorcycles behind his car before they even approached? Ever had more than one? I haven’t
6) the aggression was round rage like. It was like a switch flipped. And then he talked shit “stop crying”. Not professional at all
7) they pick him up handcuffed, then ask him to sit. He’s says something like “hold on hold on I just had knee surgery.” My take is that it’s hard to sit on the ground without hands and he wanted to be slow. So the same cop choke holds him and takes him down to the ground, again taking shit “what a coincidence you must have had ear surgery too because you were confused before”
8) two players pull up because they see tyreek face down with a knee in his back. They aren’t aggressive. They ask what’s going on. Both players are treated VERY AGGRESSIVELY. One, a Walter Payton man of the year truly good guy gets cited.
Now I grew up in Ft Lauderdale. And I worked at Royal Caribbean for 10+ years at a high level in/near miami. I love old school Cubans. But I have a serious question about these cops.
They all have thick Cuban accents. Why are we hiring people as cops that grew up in an authoritarian Cuban regime where cops have absolute power?
At least two of those guys went full throttle unhinged given the situation.
Again Tyreek didn’t handle it like I would, but it wasn’t grossly out of bounds. It all escalated with his window staying up too long after the cop started to walk away and came back. I know his windows are way too tinted, but again they knew who he was. He wasn’t going to shoot them over a speeding ticket.
It all spiraled out of control because of the cops, not in spite of them
Having always lived well above the equator I’ve never had tinted windows. But IIRC they’re common in FL,TX,AZ and elsewhere. But states have regulations regarding levels (percentages?) of tint.
A potential problem...*serious* problem...regarding officer safety.
“By ‘he’ you must mean the power trip cop.”
You’re just retarded.
The punk attitude + the window’s deep, deep tint = officer safety issue.
Shops that tint windows do not carry tint that is illegal in that state- I suppose you can buy super tint and DIY ?
He is just the typical NFL player...
He lied on national television: “I have no idea why they cuffed me and had me in the ground.”
Dumbass.
People can spin this all they want. I side with the cops on this. The dumb ass should have just rolled his damned window down, handed the cops his documents, and just shut up.
Because after that, it is all on you. All of it. He gets off because he is a star athlete.
I talked to a guy doing work on my buddy’s house down in Florida, and he said he had been a cop for 20 years and was retired. He asked me “How many police cars do you see on the highways down here?” I observed that I had seen barely any, and none that pulled people over. (This was down near Del Ray, so I expected to see more)
He said there was a reason for that. He said it was because there is too much personal risk and professional risk when pulling people over. You can get dead, get in jail, and lose your job.
So they don’t pull people over, or so he said. I am not a native of Florida, so I was surprised at how free people were to do 80 or 90 mph with impunity. Heck, I am a believer myself in driving at the same speed cars around me do, and that is what I was doing nearly all the time. Nobody seemed at all concerned there might be a cop pulling them over (not like MY blue state) so everyone just zipped along, so there must be something to what that cop was talking about.
They did not give him a tint ticket and they would have if it was illegal just to CYA.
By “he” you must mean the power trip cop.
????
When you have been pulled over for excessive speeding you should roll down your window stick both of your hands out of the car with your drivers license in one hand and proof of insurance in the other
