By that interpretation murder is a federal crime and not a state crime. Do you really want that?

The goal for conservatives should be to push more “governing” down to the state level. The recent abortion ruling does that.

Do you really want to continue the “statist” march toward all governing done at the federal level? States devolve to just historic boundary lines on a map.

There are at least 7 instances where murder IS a federal crime. Currently abortion is not. Except when the murder crosses state lines. Which so many do when the murderer crosses over to a pro abort state to murder their baby.

Anyway - back to the 14th - The US Attorney General and the Justice Department have the federal right to pursue any State in violation of that Amendment. Any state that deprives a person of life.

The Federal government has a duty to protect the fundamental right to life in any event that a state should fail to do so. Just like the abolition of slavery.

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
