On X, Tucker Carlson hosts ‘historian’ who says the Nazis didn’t mean for the Holocaust to happen

Tucker Carlson hosted 'historian' Darryl Cooper, who went on to claim that the Nazis were simply 'in over their heads.'

Right-wing pundit Tucker Carlson used the latest episode of his online talk show to interview a self-proclaimed “historian” who promoted falsehoods about the Holocaust.

The episode of Carlson’s eponymous show on the social network X, formerly Twitter, earned plaudits from the site’s billionaire owner, Elon Musk, who wrote in a since-deleted post that it was “Very interesting. Worth watching.”

In the interview, Darryl Cooper, author of a Substack with around 112,000 subscribers, told Carlson that the Nazis were simply in over their heads.

“In 1941, they launched a war where they were completely unprepared to deal with the millions and millions of prisoners of war, of local political prisoners,” he said during the 138-minute conversation. Cooper then suggested that the murder of millions in the camps was an unintended consequence of Hitler’s unpreparedness for war, contradicting documented historical fact that it was the explicit goal of the Nazi regime’s Final Solution and carried out through a vast system of mass murder that included extermination camps, gas chambers, military units dedicated to mass executions and firing squads.

“They went in with no plan for that and they just threw these people into camps. And millions of people ended up dead there,” Cooper told Carlson on the episode, which was posted on Monday.

“Cooper then suggested that the murder of millions in the camps was an unintended consequence of Hitler’s unpreparedness for war, ”

Ok folks, this type of talk isn’t just ignorant, it’s evil.
Trying to somehow downplay the evil of Hitler and the Nazis is just wickedness.

Sounds to me like Hitler was prepared:

“Our strength consists in our speed and in our brutality. Genghis Khan led millions of women and children to slaughter – with premeditation and a happy heart. History sees in him solely the founder of a state. It’s a matter of indifference to me what a weak western European civilization will say about me. I have issued the command – and I’ll have anybody who utters but one word of criticism executed by a firing squad – that our war aim does not consist in reaching certain lines, but in the physical destruction of the enemy. Accordingly, I have placed my death-head formation in readiness – for the present only in the East – with orders to them to send to death mercilessly and without compassion, men, women, and children of Polish derivation and language. Only thus shall we gain the living space (Lebensraum) which we need. Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”

-Adolf Hitler August 22, 1939 in Obersalzburg to his generals preparing for the invasion of Poland

That doesn’t mean he buys what they are selling or supports their views. More “journalists” should do the same.

It just means he’s a poor judge of what constitutes a “good historian”.

I get some of the points he makes, and might agree on some of them, but he ruins his credibility with idiotic statements.

So what? That Nazis may have murdered out of expediency rather than anti-Semitism doesn't make the guy pro-Nazi or pro-Hitler.

Meanwhile, the Biden regime, Deep State and Tucker's critics like yourself have repeatedly supported neo-Nazis in Ukraine.

From the article:

It was also the latest in the former Fox News host’s record of echoing antisemitic and white nationalist rhetoric. Examples include his platforming of the “Great Replacement” idea, which often places Jews at the center of a conspiracy to replace white voters with brown-skinned immigrants

70% of Jews vote for the Democrat Party which is implementing an agenda of open borders to result in massive rapid demographic change along with enabling vote fraud including voter registration of non-citizens and dismantling ballot integrity procedures.

It's not like they don't understand what the Democrat Party is doing and the majority of Jews are voting for them out of some misunderstanding. They agree with it.

I didn't see the Tucker interview but after reading the article I certainly wouldn't trust the Jerusalem Post to give an accurate version of it.

From time to time there is always some event like the recent campus physical attacks on Jews which make you think maybe this time it might shake the devotion of most Jews to the Democrat Party, but it never does.

More “preparedness” from Der Fuhrer:

“One thing I should like to say on this day which may be memorable for others as well as for us Germans: In the course of my life I have very often been a prophet, and have usually been ridiculed for it. During the time of my struggle for power it was in the first instance the Jewish race which only received my prophecies with laughter when I said that I would one day take over the leadership of the State, and with it that of the whole nation, and that I would then among many other things settle the Jewish problem. Their laughter was uproarious, but I think that for some time now they have been laughing on the other side of their face. Today I will once more be a prophet: If the international Jewish financiers in and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Bolshevization of the earth, and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe!”

-Adolf Hitler January 30, 1939

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s justification for invading Ukraine, claiming that the “denazification” of the country was “one of the dumbest things I’d ever heard.”

“I thought it was one of the dumbest things I’d ever heard,” Carlson told Fridman. “I didn’t understand what it meant.”

“I hate that whole conversation because it’s not real,” he continued. “It’s just ad hominem. It’s a way of associating someone with an evil regime that doesn’t exist anymore.”

I don't think he said the word "Holocaust" once during that interview. He did talk about the POWs the Germans took.

Overall, his take on WWII was somewhat off-the-wall, but it wasn't *crazy*.

I think you're wrong here.

There is a reddit subreddit (r/Jewish) that has thousands of them waking up to it and they're not happy. The worst of them are saying "Well, Republicans hate us too", but not nearly as many as say, 1 year ago.

October 7th was their 9/11. The pro-Hamas student and democrat party hatefest is a real stab in their backs.

Cooper’s views are obviously wrong, but that’s the consequences of free market of ideas: now and then there will be some strange opinions. As with others, they should not be censored but shown where the errors in their way of thinking. Otherwise, we are not much different from Robert Reich that would allow only opinions he likes.

His take was more nuanced than that. He claimed that the Nazis killed refugees and POWs on the eastern front because they could not house and feed them all, and that a quick death for them was preferable to a slow death from exposure and starvation. He claimed he had sources (correspondence from Nazi officers to headquarters, etc.) that backed this up.

He also said that the Nazis were unprepared for the numbers, but also that this made them culpable for the deaths.

As far as I could tell, this was not an exercise in Holocaust denial as he was specifically referring to the deaths of POWs and refugees.

Israel is having similar problems with their extremely liberal population in Tel Aviv.

But was that nuance really necessary? It detracted from the main point he was making about The Left using Hitler as a hammer to bash their opponents with.

The reason they switched to gas was because they thought shooting was too inhumane....for the people shooting them.

Himmler even tossed his cookies witnessing an execution.

I would never call for censorship. It’s Tucker’s show, he can have on whoever he wants, just as we can question his judgement.

Wally George also had weird guests on his TV show back in the 1980s--even Ku Klux Klanners. I miss his show.
