ZC - Christianity is a sect of 2nd temple Judaism dating from 30 AD when Jesus preached.

what we call Judaism today actually is Rabbinical Judaism, derived from the Pharisee sect of 2nd temple Judaism and dating to 70 AD.

So Christianity is actually 40 years OLDER than what we term Judaism today.

Cross-check my statements below with historical books and you can draw your own conclusions:

1. Judaism after the destruction of the 1st temple and before the death of Christ had multiple sects and beliefs:
1.1. Sadducees - the traditional who only kept the Torah and may have read but didn’t consider them God breathed

1.2. The Pharisees who arose later post exile and had the Oral Torah and Prophets in addition. The Oral Torah was written down encapsulated in the Talmud - completed around the 9th century AD

1.3. The essenes

1.4. The Jesus movement Jews

etc.

When the temple was destroyed, only the Jesus movement Jewish sect survived as that was the only one that predicted the temple would be destroyed.

The Pharisees reconfigured themselves in 70 AD as Rabbinical Judaism, what we now call simply “Judaism”

I’m ignorant of hebrews and Israelites and judaeans and the historical biography
We didn’t dwell on that as covenant southern Baptists

And don’t know much about the Talmud

I do however know a lot about modern Jews

I grew up with several I know to this day

100s in my life esp in Manhattan

Several intimately of the opposite sex

And currently have two Jewish business associates one is actually a partner

The innate fear of pogroms and nationalist Christians like me going Nazi is deeply imbedded and not without some basis honestly

It becomes a dog chasing its tail the reaction to the action and the reaction to that and so forth
