There is school choice to a degree.

There’s private, Christian, Catholic, and homeschool.

Of the four, homeschooling is the cheapest and least time intensive by far.

True enough.

I pay almost $15,000 a year in property tax.

And then I could also pay for some type of private or parochial school.
Or I could homeschool.

I’d like my tax money which is intended for children’s education to be made available to me for children’s education.
But that’s not the current situation.
