Ukraine has accused Belarus of 'concentrating' troops on the countries' shared border and warned its military against carrying out 'unfriendly actions'.
Ukrainian intelligence recorded Belarus 'concentrating a significant number of personnel.... in the Gomel region near Ukraine's northern border under the guise of exercises', Kyiv's foreign ministry said in a statement today.
Belarus had allowed Russian troops to use its territory as a launchpad for their February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Kyiv has now warned Vladimir Putin-allied Belarus 'not to make tragic mistakes for their country under Moscow's pressure, and we urge its armed forces to cease unfriendly actions'.
The statement came as Kyiv mounts an incursion into Russia's Kursk region and as Russia continues its advance into eastern Ukraine.

Ooks like it, sadly.
Putin is getting desperate.
Stupid neocons wanted a proxy war, they got a proxy war
stupid neocons wanted escalation, they will get escalation
Lukashenko is a fool.
Stupid Putin wanted to overthrow the government of Ukraine, Russian people pay the price. Putin is an international criminal.
That’s being charitable.
Belarus has Russian tactical nukes.
The question is how tightly are they controlled by Russia?
Escalation indeed.
Whether they invade or not this helps Russia. Because now Ukraine has to change focus to defend against possible invasion.
So are most of the western leaders. I say lock them all up!
Yeah! Only America is allowed to topple governments and render them proxy states!
The only standards neocons have are double standards.
Is Belarus’s Military trained by Russia and just as bad or worst
Its why the US is better - we SUCCEEDED in overthrowing the government of Ukraine.
Belarus does not want any part of this war, even though they participated in it originally via free passage for Russian troops. But they but may be willing to move troops about to and fro to appease Russians. (They suspect that they may be next on the bear's menu.)
A quick look at the border regions shows that there are very few options for Belarus if they want to enter Ukraine. Most of the border is in the Pripet marshes. A corridor to the west of the marshes is somewhat open and the area to the east of the Dnipro river around Chernigov is open. The Ukes have had over two years to build defenses. They need not be heavy fortifications in the west. For the marshes it suffices to have light forces that attrit, fall back a bit, attrit, fall back, and so on. Supply lines are easily disrupted in the swamps. In the west, I think that a similar strategy would work when combined with some fortifications. For the east the terrain is open and the Ukes might need some additional troops.
But given the size of the Belarussian army and its relative lack of combat experience, I don't see them wanting any part of such fighting.
Ukraine gets invaded. Ukraine gets blamed. Ukraine is castigated for bloodshed and destruction instead of surrendering peacefully like a good neighbor.
Up is down. Black is white. Good is evil.
A preemptive strike is in order... Bomb them now.
From Sputnik:
“Ukraine desperately begs Belarus to move troops further away from border
Belarus is “concentrating a significant number of personnel, in particular special operations forces, weapons and military equipment ... in the Gomel region near Ukraine’s northern borders,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website, citing the country’s intelligence service.
The ministry claimed Kiev was not going to take any hostile action just two weeks after Ukraine launched drones towards Belarussian territory. The Kiev regime called on Minsk to withdraw troops from the Ukrainian border “at a distance exceeding the range of fire systems available to Belarus.”
On August 9, “about ten” Ukrainian drones were shot down over the territory of Belarus while other ones were destroyed by Russia over its territory, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said. The Belarusian leader called the attack a provocation, noting that it would not go unanswered. To strengthen the border Lukashenko ordered Belarus’s Defense Ministry to increase its military presence in the country’s southern regions bordering Ukraine.”
The Ukes will take no action because many of the troops normally there are currently trapped in the Kursk Pocket.
Belarus is by no means a match for Ukrainian troops.
It is a small country with even smaller population and weak and unreliable military.
If there is any war, it would be a walkover.
I do not think Lukashenko us going to risk it. It would be rather quick end of him.
It is looking more like an harassment, to help their Russian overlords in their troubled situation.
The rational reason for doing this is to create enough of a threat to draw off some Uke troops without actually jumping into this mess. But this is not a prediction of what the White Russians (as we used to call those folks) might do.
Not a fool, bully.
He is hanging there for thirty years, by way of rigged elections and brutal oppression.
But, he is no fool, rather a skilled politician. How could he ever hold to power so long?
I do not think, he would risk it. That would be end of him.
Just harassment.
