0:02·All right. So these are some images you have to see to believe.
0:06·One of the world's biggest icebergs is stuck and
0:10·spinning in an ocean vortex off of Antarctica.
0:14·And as NBC's, Tom Costello tells us, glacier experts are buzzing
0:19·from the deck of the British ship, David Attenborough Iceberg. A 23 A is massive,
0:25·nearly the size of Rhode Island. It broke off Antarctica 40 years ago,
0:30·so large, it's visible from space,
0:32·but now it's stuck trapped in a strange vortex of ocean currents,
0:37·spending 15 degrees a day with orcas feeding off its edges.
0:41·Oceanographer Chris
0:43·Auckland has seen it firsthand. So this iceberg is absolutely ginormous.
0:47·It's five times the New York City
0:49·area
0:50·and 1000 ft deep.
0:52·And so if you're looking at it from the ocean, you're seeing it
0:54·100 kilometers into the distance while climate change is thinning
0:58·The Antarctic ice
0:59·pack, experts don't think it caused this piece to break off.
1:03·Icebergs have been breaking off Antarctica for 30 million years.
1:07·Normally traveling through an area called
1:09·Iceberg alley before entering the largest
1:12·ocean current in the world where they start to slowly melt.
1:16·But a 23 A has instead gotten trapped in a rotating confluence of
1:20·water called a tailor column doing a full spin every 24 days.
1:25·It could stay there for years slowly feeding the ocean
1:29·with fresh water and nutrients before it fully melts away.
1:33·It accounts for about a year's worth of ice volume discharged for Antarctica.
1:38·So it's sort of one big giant down payment
1:41·of ice delivered from Antarctica to the ocean.
1:45·The world's biggest iceberg chilling in the southern ocean.
1:49·Tom Costello, NBC News Washington.
1:53·That is wild.
1:55·That is absolutely wild.

When they counted that it spins on its axis every 24 days did they count that it’s rotating with the earth and so it’s already rotating once ever every sidereal day.

"Massive iceberg .. so large, it's visible from space..."

Ha!
A golf ball on a green at the Trump Bedminster Club is so large that its "1 Callaway V" can be read from space!

Space, as defined, is a fantasy. It is viewed from the sky.

If the iceberg is still there after 40 years and it's still "ginormous", global warming can't be that much of a problem after all.

IMO, “Spinning”,but in Slow Motion (i.e. one full turn each month)

= Revolving.

What’s the problem if it is sitting there going in circles and not a threat in any way to marine traffic?

According to Wiki,
“Artificial structures visible from space without magnification include highways, dams, and cities”

So it is about highway size, I guess.

Of course, example of NBC news idiocy!
The “Visible from space” means nothing!
It depends where the space is, how far from the Earth one is looking.
From International Space station, astronaut with 20/20 vision can theoretically see objects slightly larger than football field.
That would make it rather small!
But even this iceberg would not be visible from Mars without telescope.
From Alpha Centauri, one could not see even the Whole Earth.
And from Betelgeuse, one could not even see our Sun. Everything is relative, visible from space is scientific nonsense.

Finally, the utmost stupidity of iceberg making it from Arctic to Antarctic. They just found something on web and used it. Why those experts did not tell them!

The Arctic Icebergs made it few times as far as Bermudas,
the Antarctic ones to South New Zeeland or Punta Delgada, half way around Argentinian coast!
That’s it, boys and girls, no Iceberg in tropics, ever!

It’s not in danger of melting in any of our lifetimes.
