To each his own. It’s not rocket science but how many times do people make stupid mistakes when they do something for the first time? I own a real estate agency and I don’t buy and sell my own homes without an agent. I just don’t want the hassel of dealing with open houses, my own advertizing, dealing with novice buyers and a dozen plus other issues. Just remember the old saying, a man who represents himself has a fool for a client.
“a man who represents himself has a fool for a client”
This old saying never sat right with me.
The only reason it has any meaning, when pertaining to our court system, is that our system of justice is a captured operation.
One of the biggest problems is the replacement of common law with civil law. The system has become riddled with procedural details which prevent getting anything done unless you have training.
The system is rigged to favor attorneys, judges and their corrupt ways.
I don’t doubt that the real estate system similarly has a multitude of internal roadblocks, but the corruption is minimal.
Your old saying is only believed by a fool. Read my other post. We had zero problems selling two ourselves.
I have bought sold and had built many homes. One home I bought and sold 10 times. I think I know the process.
“but how many times do people make stupid mistakes when they do something for the first time? I own a real estate agency “
I was just reminded of how I got my current rental property, it was a lake front home that had been realtor listed for almost a year. I had skipped over the listing several times because the house was pink. After not finding what I wanted I decided to view the house. It wasn’t pink as in the picture, it was beige. Whoever took the photos really messed up and IMHO it was the listing realtor.
