If life has taught me anything, it’s “never trust a realtor.”
They only get paid when you write the check.
When I bought my current home the commission was $18,000, or $9k to my agent. The only reason I used her was I couldn’t bargain for a listed home without an agent. I was already approved for financing, had insurance, and picked the home. The agent got $9K just because I had to use her.
One thing that really pissed me off is that her offer contract included an additional $500 to the seller agent. WTF?
That, my friend, is a fact. I've sold my last 3 houses without a realtor and was very pleased to avoid the constant interruptions of realtors dragging tire kickers through our house, and that barely scratches the surface of advantages.
Never “trust” anyone. Its earned, after all. And even then, trust, yet verify.
So incredibly insulting. I am a retired Realtor of thirty years. Not one complaint and mostly heartfelt thanks from my clients. Every transaction I entered was with the utmost care, honesty and always THE BEST INTEREST OF MY BUYER or SELLER. Actually, I can not tell you the times I have been lied to by “buyers and sellers”. A few early questions tells a Realtor with a good eye, “ever have any foundation leaks”? Answer “NEVER). How is your roof? Answer, “never a problem”. “Do you have any liens on your property”. “No way”. Then as a Realtor, run like hell.
