“rare clay-rich mudball containing material from the dawn of the solar system”

Clay is defined as rock that has been eroded by weather or chemical process.

Quoted is “solar system” and not the universe.

Is there any evidence of clay in the universe?

Presumably stars that go nova or sometimes supernova, depending on size of the star, destroy all their planets at the same time. Literally blow them apart and throw the chunks out into interstellar space.

If a planet similar to Earth was destroyed in just such a scenario, I would think that there would be clay chunks as well as granite and all kinds of rocks and boulders sent careening through space, eventually colliding with Earth..............
