We enjoyed our family trip out there—very interesting. There were exhibits and grounds around the biosphere with appeal to kids as well as adults.

I toured Biosphere II in Arizona. I noticed the tremendous energy used to create the air circulation and pump water in simulated streams. I was told that the oxygen level went down to dangerous levels for the human occupants. Those involved in the experiment could not grow the necessary food needed for the minimum calorie diet. Toward the end they all suffered severe undernourishment and they lacked the stamina to do the minimal farming labor.

The respired CO2 reacted with the structure’s concrete to form calcium carbonate.

To me, that whole effort always seemed kooky, with the unreality of its supposed goals glossed over by lots of money and misplaced scientific effort.

He’s been involved in a lot of disparate things over the years. Made movies. Wrote books. “He’s less well-known for his unique role in the history of the TV series “Seinfeld.” Long before he became the chief strategist of Donald Trump’s White House ...”
