The organizers behind a mobile health clinic offering free abortions and vasectomies near where thousands of people are gathering for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago are pushing back amid outrage from conservatives.
Planned Parenthood Great Rivers announced it was bringing its mobile health clinic to Chicago and offering free services to those who signed up on August 19 and 20, which are the first two days of the convention.
Before the clinic even arrived, they announced that all of the appointments had been filled and that they would follow up if they had cancelations but the move sparked an avalanche of criticism online.
'The goal was we knew there were tens of thousands of people coming in around this time, and we really wanted to show and highlight what is possible when you have a state that supports reproductive access,' Dr. Colleen Nicholas, chief medical officer for Planned Parenthood Great Rivers told DailyMail.com.
'We're really at a critical time in public health were we really need to be thinking about doing things differently, and mobile health care is one of the ways to do that,' she said.
On Monday, the mobile clinic had twelve vasectomy patients scheduled. Over the course of two days, they expect to see somewhere between 20 and 30 patients for medication abortions.
DailyMail.com was given access to see inside one of the two rooms being used for patients' procedures over the two days it is in town.
It included medical equipment and an examination table. Between the two exam rooms was also a small waiting area, and organizers set up a table outside to check people in before they entered the mobile clinic.

I can’t watch that video. When I was a young man and deeply in love with my fiance we learned she was pregnant. I was pro choice back then. However I felt to my very core...rather I knew that baby was a human being and my child. Never again have I been anything other than pro life...I know.
My fiance didn’t want to have the baby, she wanted an abortion. I tried to persuade her otherwise I plead and reasoned, I begged, literally sobbing. I threatened and spoke angrily. But, I learned the father has no rights, no say in his own babies life.
I did the best I could to staying with her, I really loved her. But, I could not get ast the horrible thing we did to our own child.

If it is okay to kill people at one end of the spectrum because “they” are “inconvenient” what is to keep the government from killing anybody that they deem “inconvenient”?
