For the most part, the Barbary pirates operated within the Muslim world. Their forays into Europe were during the Middle ages. By the 18th century their activities were greatly diminished.

The Turkish genocide of Armenians happened between two neighboring countries.

I’m not making light of either of these things. But let’s put it all in perspective.

The British Empire subjugated India and China. MI6 was the monarch’s pirate Mafia before they became their intelligence Mafia (and the CIA and every other Western intelligence agency are just branches of MI6).

Spain, France, and the Netherlands all did plenty of colonizing and subjugating foreign populations as well.

Does this mean the British, Spanish, French and Dutch people are inherently bad? Does this mean that Christianity is inherently bad? Not at all.

It was the wealthy in the powerful who did all the colonizing and subjugating. And the Barbary pirates acted on behalf of Ottoman rulers as well.

I believe that the humble masses all over the world are good decent people... though, unfortunately, they are also cowardly and sheepish. As the Bible says, it is the wealthy and powerful rulers who the ultimate struggle of good versus evil centers around.

And the powerful rulers are heavily invested in getting the humble masses from one group of people to hate the humble masses of another group of people. While they continue to get away with all their evil doing.

They cheer when ordinary Christians and Muslims sling mud at each other.

Your understanding is mistaken.

Yes, the British Empire subjugated India, though it is clear they were generally better rulers than the fragmented Indian rulers were. They managed to eliminate the cult of Thugee, for example. They brought railroads and more prosperity than existed under the local Hindu and Muslim rulers. The Muslim invasion of India resulted in the murder of millions of Hindus.

Britain never exactly ruled China, but they did impose conditions on the Chinese Empire, by force. Those conditions were part of how China descended into a period of warlords.

Much of the Western colonization of the world was quite beneficial to the people in the colonies.
