Well, this is one way to save coins! A New York couple is going viral after revealing that they saved thousands of dollars by charging their wedding guests a fee to attend. Nova and Reemo Styles had their guests cough up $333 each to join them at their love celebration, per ABC 7.

And I said, ‘People choose to go to Beyoncé concerts because they know that they’re gonna have an experience. Let’s put the stress on the guests, and let’s sell tickets for a wedding,” she said.

Ultimately, 60 of the 150 invited guests paid and came, per The Daily Mail. However, others clapped back about the $333 fee, and an estimated 80% of their guests bowed out. Nova recalled an invitee asking them, “Who do you guys think you are? Jay-Z and Beyoncé?” The bride, Nova, recently told ABC 7 that they considered their wedding a premium event and decided guests should pay the price.

I would send the bride and groom an estimated bill for travel, lodging, and subsisence with the difference between actual and estimated costs being refundable after the wedding.

My daughter is getting married in October. The chose the venue because it was cheap and relatively nice. She bought her dress at a place that sells last years models. My wife and her fiance’s mom (who has catering experience will be making much of the food in advance and hiring servers. (That wasn’t part of the plan until the women concocted it one day.)

I think the whole shebang will be $8-9,000 with over 100 guests (children gladly included)

My math tells me that 40% coughed up the cash, leaving 60% that declined. Am I right?

The bride looks white in the photo at post 21. She is wearing sunglasses in the church steps photo.

I see that everyone in the bridal party is wearing sneakers, including the maid and matron of honor in chartreuse.

OR, they go to Reno and get married, send out announcements and use the money they WOULD HAVE SPENT on essentials. My parents and her sisters and my Uncles, did the same thing. My parents offered me a wedding, paid for with motel rooms for 5 days, do it in Reno. My future wife would not go for it, her parents paid beaucoup bucks, and I regretted getting married for 4 years, then got divorced.

Found me a woman who doesn’t care about the foo foo frilly BS, and I am happy. Say Yes to the Dress? These people are insane..

It’s not a proper black celebration without some gun men showing up and spitting hot lead. Were there many refund requests?

Not an Italian wedding I surmise. At a NY Italian weeding people bring cash gifts.

If they had asked for cash gifts in lieu of regular (usually, crappy) gifts, that's one thing. But asking for a specific dollar amount for the "privilege" to attend....uh, no.

Exactly!

My grandson got married recently, he and his fiancee were paying for their own wedding. They planned to have a fairly simple wedding, and not big by today’s standards- around 100 guests.

While making plans they realized it was going to cost $20,000+. They are both bright people and realized that was insane when they could use that kind of money to get into a home instead.

So they decided to be more practical. They got married in the backyard of a family member with about 50 guests. Food was prepared by family, yard was decorated by family. It was a perfect wedding!

A few decades ago really good friends of mine got married in their own back yard in Virginia. They had 30-something guests attend who drove or flew in
(at their own expense) from all over the lower 48.
For me it was a 6 hour drive, and I slept on their couch in the living room.
