As I remember from Olympics of decades ago events like freeform gymnastics weren’t rigid, flexed sporadic exertions of some difficult exercises awkwardly placed throughout a rushed routine.

They seemed to be more naturally transitioning and flowing - much easier to watch and enjoy. Today’s stuff isn’t something I’d pay to see at all.

This Break Dancing stuff? Ridiculous attempt to contemporize the games to get younger attendees, viewership and MONEY. So, as an old fart, I guess my time for the Olympics is over and out.

I don’t see it much differently between the two. Both take athletic ability and are subjectively scored.

What I do like about the breaking is that it’s a head to head competition...you just need to beat your opponent. Gymnastics it’s overall highest score over several rounds. So if you follow a great act your score may get dinged more than following a terrible act.

At least breaking is a bit more fair and consistent.
