Mosaic floor in Eretria, Evia, GreeceGreek Ministry of Culture and Sports
Olympics break dancing?
It’s amazing all the stuff we today are finding from the ancient world. Utterly fascinating! Thank you so much for posting these stories, Sunken!
A mosaic floor made with colored pebbles in white, black, red, and yellow has been found in a dwelling situated in the middle of the settlement. The center image of the mosaic features two satyrs, the male nature spirit companions of Dionysus, the Greek god of winemaking and fertility. One of the yellow-haired satyrs has a beard and appears to be dancing to music...
Apparently mockery of the Last Supper goes way back.
"Satyr". Okay, sure.
They even had to belittle a beloved song!
Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow, black and white
They are precious in His sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world

On the Sunny side, at least Thomas Jolly was aptly named:
(NH = New, i.e. Modern Hebrew)
"badCHIT":
(Klein's Etym.)בַּדְחִית f.n. NH farce. [From בדח with suff. ◌ִית.]
בדח to be happy, gay, jolly, in a good mood.
— Qal - בָּדַח he was jolly, happy, gay.
— Pi. - בִּדַּח he caused joy, amused, entertained.
— Pu. - בֻּדַּח he was made jolly, amused, gay.
— Hith. - הִתְבַּדֵּחַ he became happy (gay), was amused, was in a good humor. [From Aram. בּֽדַח.]
It's a thankless, even reviled job, even though I'm just following where the trails lead, but somebody had to do it, and I was available. I always find the best stuff. 😇
Well they had to have some entertainment on the weekends. “ It’s Satyr night live!”
