A Serbian competitor in the CrossFit Games dies during a swimming event at a Texas lake

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the athlete as 28-year-old Lazar Dukic of Serbia. The medical examiner’s office had not yet listed his cause of death.

An official with the Fort Worth Fire Department said they got called out around 8 a.m. to assist police because there “was a participant in the water that was down and hadn’t been seen in some point in time.”

Did he suffer a cardiac event? Was he vaxxed?

You can watch the video of him faltering in the water and no one trying to help....probably didn’t want to interfere with the very important race. Could make a big difference in prize money and public relation advertisement money.

A tenet of CrossFit is to push your body to its limit. He jumped in a lake after a 3.5 mile run and ran out of gas. There is a reason triathlons start with the swimming. I’m surprised only one person drowned.

The run is only 3.5 miles and swim is 800 meters. If done early in the day it would not be too bad.

Having lived in North Texas... I wouldn’t swim in any lakes there. I ate lots of catfish and gar but swimming in that stagnant water.... Not for me.
