Har. Good one. However, Harleys leaked even before AMF. So what? I'd get some degreaser to clean the garage floor and wipe where the primary seal was leaking.
As a on and off Harley rider, I've seen the worse and the best of the brand. The pre-AMF flatheads, knuckleheads, panheads, even Shovelheads leaked oil. Again, so what, I was riding a Harley with the awesome vibration and sound from the pipes. Riding a Harley was a treat.
When I worked for a large motel chain we were told “Never rent a downstairs room to a person riding a Harley. They all leak oil and if they take the motorcycle into the room at night it will ruin the carpet.”
Riding a Harley was a treat. Agreed.
I used to own a ‘92 FXRP. Police edition of the FXR. FAST off the line. Good cruiser. Used to ride the back roads of eastern Mississippi and western Alabama.
Then I had kids. Need the money.
Early Harleys were designed to leak to purify the oil, viz. the rider had to frequently add fresh oil.
