The article made it sound like he was actually carrying the gun and the trash. If he had his finger anywhere near the trigger, I could see that happening when he slipped.

He could have also dropped the gun and tried to catch it. I was taught to let it fall, no matter how expensive it is; nothing is worth risking one’s life.

Either way, a quality holster would have prevented this outcome.
