My real life last name was owned by a distant relative in Virginia who was a realtor. He died fairly young, but before I could grab my own name, a squatter bought it and wanted $3,000. My real last name is uncommon, so he probably won’t find a taker for it. He’s had it for almost 20 years now, and has made no money off of it. I settled for the .net version.
Eche was called Green before he was married… I wonder… maybe this is why they describe him like a clever entrepreneur and not a greedy exploiter.
He bought the domain for 8.99 and a bunch of other domains, so it wasn’t that great of a deal on its own. He also has been paying domain registration fees annually at least and probably as much as the original 8.99. So each domain cost 40 bucks. He probably won’t get 15000 because they can simply take the name from him if he isn’t actually using it. It makes for a good fantasy though.
It’s not big money for a campaign...the Dems should pay the man, congratulation him for his investment acomen, and for his foresight.
