Now that I've had an opportunity to look at that photo in detail and at a larger size, I think it's fake. There are artifacts around the jawline that seem to show that the head (probably Michelle's brother) was placed over someone with blonde hair.

It's a good fake, though. Certainly better than some of Obama's high school yearbook photos.

After testing with filters, we did lighten it up to get the sweater color, etc.

We ran it through (light) photoforensics, which passed.
Also, tineye reveals that major MSM used the exact same photo
