I was in United States Marine Corps. Boot Camp - MCRD - San Diego - rifle range - when we landed on the moon July 20 1969.
The Drill Instructor rousts us out of our racks @ zero dark thirty and, in skivvies and flop-flops, had us form up on the basketball court\grindr.

We had to salute the the officers on moon and wave to them.

Never underestimate the devious ingenuity of a Marine Drill Instructor.

July 20 - That was my second day back from Vietnam. I don’t think I got sober for another 3 days. I don’t remember seeing it on TV. I had other interests at the time.
