July 20 - That was my second day back from Vietnam. I don’t think I got sober for another 3 days. I don’t remember seeing it on TV. I had other interests at the time.
i went the following year...a Marine’s tour of duty was 13 months.
I had 11 months left of active duty when i went.
Somebody didn’t like me ?
Got orders to leave on the freedom bird in Feb.71.
Turned in all my gear, weapons, etc.. packed my seabag.
went to HQ and was told those orders were cancelled.
I stayed another 3 months for 10 months total. Got a 30 day drop and left VN and active duty early.
miltary logic...go figure
