Why Killer Whales Are Attacking BoatsI doubt this is anything new.
They are exposed to fishing vessels which they correctly perceive as competitors.
They only have so much intelligence and if any boat appears small enough that they believe they can take it on, they will instinctively attack the competitor.

They really need to just kill this pod of whales and be done with it.
If this behavior starts to matriculate to other pods, this could get bad/lethal for boaters all over the world.

Why Killer Whales Are Attacking Boats We obviously have been negligent in keeping their populations in check. Time to sharpen the harpoons and stoke the fat rendering fires. The Japanese could still do the job if the west has become too feminized.

The Alpha of this pod started the attacks on surface vessels for unknown reasons. This has been talked about for several months.

The boaters might want to transmit submarine audio between 0.5 to 25 kHz to disrupt their echolocation. That might keep them away.

We live on a sailboat, and, I currently moderate a Facebook group with 200,000+ members worldwide. This is a regular topic (too regular in my opinion, but, what can ya do).
The main consensus is that people are running their depth finders out in the middle of the ocean and the ultra sonics are/were disturbing them. But, now it’s becoming more of a learned behavior.
Personally, if it were us, they might end up getting a lot of doses of ‘leadacilin’, but, then again, there isn’t any point in running a depth finder out in 1000 ft deep water, so, they probably won’t be looking for us anyway.

There's this big concern: the big naval base shared by the Spanish Navy and US Navy at Rota, Spain (Naval Base Rota) is located not too far from the area of the attacks. Just as long as the attacks stay resonably far away from Rota, then the Guardia Civil, the Spanish national police that has a division that operates like the US Coast Guard, will treat this issue on a case-by-case basis. But if these attacks start getting close to Naval Base Rota, then the issue could become serious and the Guardia Civil will have to be a lot more aggressive dealing with those offending orca pods, animal rights activists be d***ed.
