Spendy ... and, our dog couldn’t stand it!

So, I make his dog food now (with fresh ingredients/meats).

Farmer’s Dog Food at Walmart = $17.46 + 8.25% tax = $18.90 for 6 lbs. of “steamed with fresh all natural chicken, vitamin-rich peas & carrots and high fiber brown rice”. How fresh? Probably 1 lb of chicken beaks and skin, 1 lb of vegs and 4 lbs of rice.

Make it yourself with Walmart prices:
real chicken meat = 68 cents (quarters with meat yield of 80% and there is a bonus of stock)
peas = 34 cents
carrots = 39 cents
brown rice = 2 lbs dry = 4 lbs cooked = $1.64

Total cost for 6 lbs = $3.05 with extra stock and $0 tax on real food.
