Russia has sent a stark warning to Israel over its war in Gaza as Moscow's Foreign Minister says the IDF cannot destroy Hamas.

Sergei Lavrov said it is "unrealistic" to believe that Israel can dismantle the Palestinian group because of its "support in the Muslim world."

The substance of Lavrovs statements (on video, elsewhere) certainly justify the Express headline. The paper is entitled to editorialize in headlines anyway.

And the Daily Express (website is Express UK) is not a Murdoch paper. You may be confusing it with the Daily Mail or the Telegraph. It is a Reach PLC property, along with other tabloid papers like the Daily Mirror and Daily Star. Reach media mostly support British Labour, except the Express, which has a (British) Conservative orientation.

A key point of Israel's strategy is to locate and kill Hamas leaders in Gaza and elsewhere. This will wreck Hamas by depriving it of experience and operational ability. Contrary to Lavrov’s declaration, in that manner Israel will gradually destroy Hamas — and Lavrov and Putin know it.
