In Ukraine, thank God, that does not include sending American forces to fight and kill Russians, so long as Ukrainians are willing and able to fight for themselves.
But if Ukraine is effectively destroyed, and Vlad the Invader's Russkiy Mir adds Ukraine to his old Russian Empire, then other countries, including NATO will come next, and then we will have to fight.

Except now, instead of being 5,000 miles away in Eastern Ukraine, the battle will be just 4,000 miles away in Poland.

1942 Second World War
included 7 major theaters simultaneously:

1. During the Second World War the US fought in seven theaters, with dozens of campaigns and hundreds of major battles, simultaneously.
   WWII theaters included:
   • European Theater
   • Pacific Theater
   • North African Theater
   • Mediterranean Theater
   • China-Burma-India Theater
   • The Atlantic Theater against U-boats
   • The Strategic Air Theater bombings

2. The Cold War also included several theaters, some of which overlapped in time and space:
   • Korean War
   • Vietnam War
   • Russia's Afghanistan War
   • Middle Eastern Conflicts
   • Ideological warfare against Communism
   • Cuba, Caribbean and Latin America
   • Strategic Nuclear Deterrence
   • The Space Race

So now, in Cold War II we have a new Axis of Evil Dictators and several theaters of war, some old others brand new:

My point is, just as in World War II and Cold War I, in Cold War II we must still be able to walk and chew gum at the same time.
We have to contest in multiple interrelated theaters and we have to win them all.

We cannot just abandon some theaters while wringing our hands over others.
No, we have to work them all, and we have to do them simultaneously.

To do anything else would be both stupid and dishonest, imho.
