We still have drive-ins in Pennsylvania. We cling to our antiques for a long, long time. ;)
The old version was excellent.
The remake was bad.
The movie was designed to be leftist propaganda—to show how evil men were.
The movie also took a swipe at big tech.
My favorite old leftist propaganda movie was “Seconds” starring Rock Hudson.
It used symbolism to show the evils of capitalism—but the movie watching masses had already been so dumbed down that the symbolism went right over their heads.

Dirty Dancing, according to people I know that have seen it, has a side story about a fouled up backstreet abortion, thereby promoting ‘legal, healthy, safe’, abortions.
Just the title was enough to tell me the movie was trash.
💯
I saw it when it came out.

They Live!
I read the book and at the end I was really pissed off that had read it. Complete waste of time.
And is your population still booming?
I read the book as an indictment on corporate America.
Have seen “Dirty Dancing” a number of times.
NEVER thought it was trash.
Patrick Swazye was a beautiful dancer. Grey did a good job, also.
We lost Patrick WAAAAAY too soon.
Lots of people are amazing dancers. When I heard of the secondary story, about the fouled backstreet abortion, I was not surprised that Hollyweird would include something like that.
Yes, Mr Swayze’s death was tragic, same thing that killed Michael Landon at around the same age, iirc.
“I’ll just die if I don’t get that recipe.”
The brunette on the bottom right.
In the book, it appears that the husbands were clueless about the nature of the town and its leaders, until they were inducted into the men's club and basically told that now that they knew about things, they had to comply. One of them was in tears when he was told he had to kill off his wife and replace her with a robot.
DD was a great movie.
