Nigel Farage made his maiden speech in the Commons this afternoon.

10 minute speech.

Most of it is on immigration into the U.K. both legal and illegal.

Here's my notes:

● Talks about his community/district and some of the deprived areas within it.

● Population "explosion" is having a huge negative impact on the UK

● 'Giant multi-nationals' and the cheap labour express: "To hell with working class people and families they said".

● Sheer level of population increase means we have to build a new house every 2 minutes.

● Rents have risen... Access to healthcare difficult.. Pressure on infrastructure... The list goes on.

● English Channel crossing crisis is down to the fact that we have stopped deporting immigrants.

● Gangs (people smugglers) are making millions a week and it's naive to think we can crack down on them. He cites the example of the drug war. It won't work he says.

I used to love listening to his speeches in the European Parliament. I particularly liked the speech he gave just after the Brexit vote. He stood up as many members were jeering and booing and his first words were “Oh,you’re not laughing now,are you”.
