Many people don’t realize that Swift was born a billionaire. I believe her dad is a hedge fund manager.
When she was a teen, her dad purchased some recording and studio equipment for her to have at home. He traveled with her to Nashville to help “buy” her a career.
Taylor Swift isn’t super talented, nor is she a “self-made” billionaire. I can’t understand the obsession with Swift and her “mimbo” (male bimbo) boyfriend.
I don’t know much about her, so thank you for that background.
That said, if she was a just a pop star interested in making money, I would have zero problem with it, as you can guess.
But she seems bound and determined to use her platform, audience, and money to influence the course of this country in what I see as a completely destructive way.
I cannot comment on her music, as I don’t listen at all, to any of it.
But being a conservative, posting on FR, it isn’t surprising I would look askance at someone who uses their fame and money to advance the causes of people I regard as enemies of this Republic.
I try not to pass judgement on people who like her music, but it is difficult for me, in the same way I see buying a car from a company that has UAW workers building it, because their money goes to those same kind of people.
I wish I could go back to a time in my life when that kind of thing meant less to me, but I guess things once seen cannot be unseen.
