Jack Ruby’s case was very interesting.
His CIA/Mob handlers told him that if he killed Oswald he would only serve a year or two in prison.
They promised him that LBJ would pardon him.

What I have read is that he had his vehicle in the vicinity, with explosives inside. He also had a bicycle stashed nearby. A transponder was found by the body.
So: He plans to do the shooting, blow up the car, and in the confusion get on his bike and ride away. Who would suspect some pimply kid on a bicycle?
