Nor do I.
Alcohol? Or pot?
I saw nothing in the article about either driver being drunk.
Nothing in the article points to the driver who crossed into their lane being drunk.
The story doesn’t say anything about the driver of wayward vehicle driving drunk, but that he may have had a medical emergency while driving.
The other driver had some kind of medical emergency. Died at scene
Article doesn’t mention the college they were returning from
We lost a neighbor a few years ago to a daytime drunk driver. Young woman, in her 20’s, 2pm on a sunny, dry afternoon.
We were asked to provide impact statements on what his loss would be to our community. He was a beef farmer and was just out running errands.
She’s in prison for a long time, and deservedly so. :(
I thank the Lord every night for our safe travels. We sometimes take it for granted. God be with them.
So sad
My Brother-in-law, who rides a motorcycle has always said: “
Yes, I am careful with my behavior, but I’m always more worried about what other people will do.”
The article said this about the father
“Mallory, a father, reportedly suffered a medical emergency leading up to the crash, a family friend wrote on a fundraising page, but investigators were not able to immediately confirm that detail. “
Alwas knew RDX was dangerous.
Quite a leap you made there.
The median there (looking on google maps) is about 75 feet wide, scaling off the lanewidth (12’ on interstate highways). It would be difficult veer over, unless as speculated, the other driver had a medical emergency.
There is a constant reminder that tomorrow is guaranteed to no one.
The real rub is if they were only a minute earlier or a minute later they would have been alright.
Things like this are very, very hard to take.
I DO understand why people assume it was a drunk driver!
I’ve often wondered if some of these fatal one vehicle or two vehicle crashes were in fact successful suicide attempts.
The unfortunate part is that sometimes innocents are taken out as well.
Per the Staties...
Crossed over from westbound interstate into the eastbound interstate...
That’s going to make for an interesting accident report.
Let us apply some governmental correction creme on this.
Ok folks from here on every drivers license holder shall pass a medical examination administered by a federal motor safety administration approved medical provider. This medical card shall be taken by a local dmv office each renewal to maintain your right to operate a motor vehicle and you shall also keep a copy of these papers with you at all timed while driving.
This will be familiar to those who hold a commercial drivers license.
A regulatory exercise to keep impaired , accident prone, physically unfit persons out from behind the wheel of big rigs. They probably have hidden mental acuity built in too.
This was a political knee jerk reaction to the magnitude of catastrophic damage in such wrecks. Being written by unelected bureaucrats with lenient promulgation authority the overbearing and industry taxing regulations are not cost effective and in my opinion is top heavy on the wrong segment of this population. Fact, most big rigs are still well regulated by their old hateful capitalistic owners who do not want loss and hire accordingly .
But, Now we have to use government approved truck driving schools to hire and they have to train and approve all commercial drivers license holders.
These schools accommodate and segregate students and license issued according to automatic transmission only or yes! skilled enough to actually shift gears.
Gone are the days of good old farm boys and the art of self regulation. Sadly and idiocrastically it is being replaced by government meddling where it is least needed and that impedes us.
They attack smoking but never alcohol it is ad if the wild wild west goes everywhere elsewhere. At least require an IQ test for something. An yes do not ride a motor cycle or small car a large urban assault vehicle or preferably a large pickup or bigger because sooner or later the a stupid will try to kill you, it’s a jungle out there.
Rant off
Those lanes are separated by guardrails and many feet of median as weel. Very hard to visualize how to drive in the opposing direction lane.
I don't understand why idiots would automatically presume the driver was driving drunk when the article never made any mention of alcohol.
But then again, FR seems to be going in the same direction as public education.
