Way back when AIDS was new a student assistant at the library where I worked was studying for a career in law enforcement.
She worked at night at KMart as a plain clothes security guard. One black woman was caught for shoplifting and just outside the store she screamed and struggled and then viciously bit the girl’s arm.
The hospital stitched her badly bleeding and painful arm and she had to have AIDS tests with at that time the possibility of 90% surety of dying. She said “All I want now is for her to have to have the same tests and the fear I’m going through.” By the grace of God our student was okay. She worked with one arm in a sling but recovered later.
