For sure... but, when a person gives donations to a presidential candidate or political organization, wouldn’t that show up some how or other? Even if $ didn’t go through their account, but their name is attached to the donation?

Political donations in Canada are 75% tax-deductible on the first $400 so we get income tax receipts. I’ve always thought this was self-serving of the politicians to create such a law, but it means I get receipts by email and snail mail for the donations I make. I’m guessing those donations aren’t tax-deductible in the US since the “donors” are unaware of their generosity?
