Years ago my pastor did a sermon on Romans 8:26 I never forgot: In Romans 8:26 we are also told that God the Holy Spirit groans as well: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
He said “when it gets so bad, groan. You can groan can’t you? Remember when words escape you in prayer, groan.”
I never forgot that -—when things are so bad, you don’t know what to do, groaning establishes that connection with our Lord......
God allows us to groan; otherwise we’d never truly pray.
