Yes, the Ingrid Andress national anthem is as bad as you've heard

There’s no other way to say it: Ingrid Andress—the country singer you may or may not know from songs like “More Hearts Than Mine” and “Wishful Drinking”—gave a god awful performance of The Star Spangled Banner last night. It might not have been Fergie bad (feel free to debate that one in the comments), but it certainly joins the un-hallowed halls of performances like Carl Lewis’ and Roseanne Barr’s.

I thought it must have been the Republican Convention, but actually it was the Home Run Derby, a Major League Baseball event held this year in Arlington, Texas.

Andress (no relation to the 60s film star) has since said that she was drunk that night. She says she’ll be checking into rehab. That at least is what sources are saying just now.

It may be the world’s most difficult athem.

The French and British anthems are both more musical and easier to sing.

Some have suggested replacing it with America The Beautiful which I think is the same tune as God Save the King.

Admits to being drunk during the anthem and has skipped off to rehab.

No, "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" is sung to the tune of "God Save the King." Words by Samuel F. Smith, a Baptist minister, 1831.

"America the Beautiful" words by Katherine Bates, music by Samuel Ward (church organist in Newark NJ) 1910.
