Freepers,
I can't tell you how huge this is.
Trump made the RIGHT CHOICE as far as I'm concerned and all common sense and for CONSERVATISM.
Vance is NOT a Neocon. He's a foreign policy realist and shares the same views as Trump.
The likes of Bill Kristol and the perpetual War Machine will not have slept well last night.
It's superb.
I'm sure Sen. Rand Paul although snubbed and skeptical of Trump 2.0 will be delighted that his friend from Ohio has got this.
Please get behind J.D Vance not just as a potential VP but a future star in the conservative movement!
You will see. He will not let us down!!
Cautiously optimistic here...
Re his book, people who’ve known him for decades say it’s about 25% fiction.
I wasn’t “for” him, but he does have his age going for him, so if he turns out to be ultra MAGA then that’s promising for America.
DJT was a democrat most of his life- are you leery of him?
His wife is a “practicing Hindu” (per internet search). One of the reasons he was at the bottom of my list for VP along with Gabbard and Ramaswamy.
So, instead of having God’s hand in the upper echelon of America, we’ll have thousands. ;(
Picking a young man who will continue the MAGA movement tells me Trump knows the race is won.
Let's hope this is a good choice. We'll know more soon, and hopefully have four years to find out.
As Tucker Carlson said, all the worst people in Washington absolutely hate JD Vance. Allow me to fill in the blanks....The Turtle, the Murdochs, Karl Rove, the RINO unipart that is aligned with the Deep State war machine, etc.
A more ringing endorsement I could not imagine.
I was of the Trump/Flynn 2024 mind, but will have to trust Trump’s judgement.
Not only does he have the smarts, pedigree, and life accomplishments, but he has the right ideological bent, and he is young. That will be a perfect backup in case the old Trump does not duck the next time. Or if Trump makes it for the full four years there is a logical and likely succession plan.
Time will sure tell. Right?
JD and Vivek are old buddies. They’re from Southwestern Ohio and they became friends at Yale where they both graduated from the law school. Vivek said they used to meet up at the bar and watch Ohio State football games and have a couple beers when they were at Yale.
There ARE some dissidents who go to the Ivy League. Michael Knowles is another Yale-ee.
With DJT we have tangible proof of his conservatism at this point. I was initially leery about whether he was authentic in 2016, but eventually got on board and was rewarded for it. Vance is a Johnny come lately right now. Iām curious as to how someone āevolvesā from calling DJT Hitler and have to seriously question the judgment of someone that would ever say that even if they donāt believe it anymore.
That's me. I preferred Trump had picked a non-politician. But I can be happy with Vance being a newbie pol and hope he hasn't been in DC long enough to be part of their culture.
His wife is Indian.
“Iām definitely leery of Vance in light of his past statements and his age.”
Same here. In light of his past statements. Supposedly, he had a come-to-Jesus moment at which point he stopped denigrating Trump, calling him a Nazi, etc. Core principles are important. My beliefs today are identical to what they were when I was 18.
Also his wishy-washy history of religion. Also his heathen (not pagan) wife.
Maybe he’ll do a good job.
A US Senator who went to an ivy league college. Luke warm.
“The faith of their spouses seems even more disconnected.”
A Christian marrying someone in a a mystical eastern religion indicates poor discernment.
II Cor. 6:14 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

And then he said;
"I regret being wrong about the guy,ā Vance said about Trump several days later on the campaign trail. āI think he was a good president, I think he made a lot of good decisions for people, and I think he took a lot of flak.ā He later added: āHeās the best president of my lifetime.ā
In 2004, when John Kerry said he was for the war in Iraq before he was against it, FR went nuts calling him a flip-flopper and person without conviction...and rightfully so.
In 2024, when JD Vance says he was against Trump before he was for him, he's lauded as a person open to having his mind changed and growing. And Vance was not just, "against" Trump, he quite openly declared himself a "never Trump guy." I guess Yale Law teaches a different, more nuanced definition of "never," than most of us authentic coal country hillbillies understand.
I'm sure I'll get jumped on here for even daring to make the comparison between the two, and in fairness, Kerry had a long track record of blowing with the wind, Vance not so much. More problematic for me is his Yale Law degree. There are a lot of law schools out there. A primary motivator for competing for, and attending an Ivy is simply to be part of the club. Does Vance seek to be, "part of the club"? I guess that remains to be seen, but he does have a solid voting record in the senate, and I'll grant him that.
I'm not going to declare myself a "never Vancer," and am willing to defer to Trump's judgment, but cautiously so.
Generally, I’d say no to any lawyers...but especially those tied to Obamas (Sidley Austin).
