Someone posted something (An INS document was included) at some point saying that her Indian Mother, after overstaying her student visa, was going to be deported back to India, which was the reason she relocated to Canada, another Commonwealth country. Like Obama, her formative education happened outside the U.S.

I indicated that something suggesting she would be deported, but she does state that she applied to for permament status at some point. (See page 132 "See 31", but that question is blocked out so I can't say what it said.)
Whatever you say about Kamala, her mother was highly educated. (Spoke English, Hindi, Tamil, per mother read Sanskrit.)
