The distance is absurdly close. My 22LR competitions are typically 100 or 200 yards. My kids did these as young as 8 years old. And larger calibers... 9mm at 200 yards (such as a Ruger PC9) works but it is ballistic. I've shot my AR-15 out to 800 and hit steel plate. Almost any competent shooter can make these shorter shots.

The scandal is that the Secret Service allowed any vantage point, especially so close, to be left unsecured.

They are calling it an AR style rifle Others have said it sounded like a 22 LR. But there are several companies who make an AR id 22 LR only caliber.

Exactly. For my AR scope rifle, 150 yards is not a hard shot.

It was secured. The SS counter-snipers had their sniper rifles on tripods aimed at the roofline where they killed the perp. We know this because videos show the SS counter-snipers looking in the direction of the perp and when the perp starts shooting, they shoot back without re-aiming their sniper rifles.
